What is a Hybrid OS?
The BlackBerry Operating System, like what Windows XP is for a PC, is made up of many files. As the OS changes (ie.. from .65 to .75 to .148 and every leak in between) these files change. Sometimes a newer OS release has a quirk that a previous OS didn’t have. Maybe one OS has a problem with with its MMS file. And maybe another has a camera issue. Maybe one has a super radio file. A hybrid is a mixture of the bests.
Hybrid also can use files that aren’t available yet for the 9530. For example, the transitions between apps offered in Storm 9500 .151.
Lastly, they remove extra files that the majority of users don’t need.
Lucky for the us, Back up your 3rd party applications:

3. Wipe using JL_Cmdr (optional)
4. Download the hybrid files from the developer. These will consist of a java folder, CDMA folder, removed folder, and several loose files that look like this:

5. What I like to do is create a hybrid folder on my desktop. I drag and drop the java, cdma, and all loose files into that folder on the desktop. So now the “hybrid” folder on your desktop should look exactly like the picture above except the missing “removed” folder. Leave the removed folder alone unless you know what you are doing and want to modify the hybrid.
6. Next follow this path: C: > program files > common files > research in motion > shared files > loader files > then click the folder for your current OS (side note: always delete all OS versions that you are not currently using). Delete EVERYTHING in the OS folder but NOT the folder itself. The screen should look like this when you are deleting:

7. Now drag and drop the contents of your temporary “hybrid” folder from the desktop into the OS folder that you just cleared out. Again, this will consist of the java folder, cdma folder, and all the loose files (alx files, etc.).
8. Now you are ready to install the hybrid OS onto your device. The simplest way is to follow this path: C: > program files > common files > research in motion > app loader > and double click the loader icon that looks like a phone. This is a good time to double check in this same folder and make sure vendor.xml has been deleted. While in the app loader make sure to restore your 3rd party applications referring back to the 3rd party app tutorial above if needed.

9. Once the loading operation is complete, restore your backup file using Desktop Manager (open DM > backup & restore > restore).
10. When everything is complete, restored, etc. I like to do the following things:
a. options > advanced > host routing table > menu key > register now;
b. resend service books;
c. battery pull
Good Luck and if you like what we’re doing, and want us to keep doing it, please kindly consider making a donation, no matter how small, towards its increasing annual hosting and running costs. Many thanks for your kind and generous support.
